Arsenal have been handed a boost in signing Athletico Paranaense goalkeeper Bento with Chelsea pulling out of the race.
The Gunners are likely to land a new shot-stopper this summer with deputy Aaron Ramsdale touted to pursue a new challenge.
They have been linked with Bento in the past few days and it is now reported that the club have the upper hand over Chelsea.
The Blues were recently monitoring him when he was playing for Brazil against England, but their interest is not concrete.
Hence, the Gunners are now in pole position to land the 24-year-old, who could be prised away for around €20m this summer.
Inter Milan are also firm admirers of the talented keeper, but they are unlikely to compete financially in terms of wages.
Mikel Arteta‘s side currently have an advantage in that regard, and it is left to be seen whether there is more interest elsewhere.
Bento won’t be assured a starting role at Arsenal with David Raya being an undisputed starter under manager Mikel Arteta.
